Valid point. The ACC should once again be on the offensive
It's completely plausible that we could make a push for ND. We could be the first to 18 with the addition of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas. That would push the ACC to the front of the revenue game.
If the ACC isn't proactive this time, that's when we should worry, but I think the ACC is in the driver's seat with this next wave.
If I'm wrong, I don't think any team in the ACC is guaranteed a spot at the big boy table. None of the NC schools are guaranteed a spot somewhere else (especially given the Chapel Hole debacle). The B1G already has the DC market. Clemson and FSU won't get B1G or SEC invites. Unfortunately for VT, the SEC is bigger on flagship universities.
The point of my earlier post was that the members within the ACC shouldn't be knocking each other, rather banding together to make the first moves. The ACCN is the leverage we need. The bigger fish we catch, the more lucrative the deal. With everything going on in the Big 12, the time to strike is now - especially before the B1G or SEC do and while we have the ND card up our sleeve.
We don't need to worry about cutting members loose, but who to go after next and how fast we can get there.
We could even get to 20 first with ND, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, WVU and UCONN/Cincy/outside shot at Penn St. We'd suffocate the Pac, B1G, and SEC and realignment would be dead for good. Plus that ACCN would be the most popular sports network. Could possibly break it into two networks (convert LHN + ESPNU). $$$$$$ and nobody would complain about Wake!
